11-Day Rajasthan Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Our driver will meet you at the airport or railway station and take you to the hotel. Once you have checked in and freshened up, the afternoon is good for India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb and a walk around Lodhi Garden.
None of these take more than 45 minutes individually and they are all close to each other. Get an early night. Day 2 is a six-hour drive.
Day 2: Delhi to Jaipur
After breakfast, leave Delhi by 7 AM via NH48 and reach Jaipur in five to six hours. Check in and then visit Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Jantar Mantar in the afternoon. These three are all walkable from each other.
The best view of Hawa Mahal is from the cafe terrace directly across the road, not from inside the building. Evenings at Johari Bazaar for textiles, blue pottery, and silver.
Day 3: Jaipur Sightseeing
After a testy breakfast, head to Amber Fort before 9 AM when it is cooler and less crowded. Inside, the Sheesh Mahal is a room built entirely from mirror inlays set into the ceiling and walls.
Jaigarh Fort is a 10-minute walk on the same hill and holds the Jaivana cannon, a 6-meter barrel fired once in 1720. Buy the combined Amber and Jaigarh ticket at the entrance.
Afternoon at Nahargarh Fort for a wide view over Jaipur.
If you prefer a faster itinerary focused on the main highlights, see our 6 Days Rajasthan Tour from Delhi designed for shorter holidays.
Day 4: Jaipur to Pushkar
After breakfast, the drive to Pushkar takes about three hours. If your group is interested, Dargah Sharif in Ajmer is a 45-minute stop on the way and one of the most visited Sufi shrines in India. Pushkar itself is a quiet town built around a lake with 52 ghats.
Visit Brahma Temple, one of the only temples in India dedicated to Lord Brahma. The bazaar has good leather goods and silver at lower prices than Jaipur.
Day 5: Pushkar to Jodhpur
After breakfast, the drive to Jodhpur takes four hours. Check in and then go directly to Mehrangarh Fort, which sits 120 meters above the city. The museum inside covers seven galleries of weapons, costumes and royal furniture.
Pick up the audio guide at the entrance for Rs 150 as the exhibits have almost no labelling. After the fort, walk down to Toorji Ka Jhalra stepwell for the view back up at the fort from the old city lanes.
Day 6: Jodhpur Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit Umaid Bhawan Palace. Construction ran from 1929 to 1943 as a famine relief project that employed 3,000 workers. The museum section is open to visitors.
In the afternoon, Mandore Gardens, 9 km from the city, has the royal cenotaphs of the Marwar rulers and is usually quiet enough to have to yourself.
In the evening, the Clock Tower market is where you eat. Mirchi bada and makhania lassi are both specific to Jodhpur and worth trying.
Day 7: Jodhpur to Jaisalmer
After breakfast, the drive to Jaisalmer is 5 hours and the landscape turns into open desert about 100 km out of Jodhpur. After check-in, visit Jaisalmer Fort where around 3,000 people still live inside the walls.
Walk through the lanes and visit Patwon Ki Haveli, five connected merchant mansions built between 1800 and 1860. Salim Singh Ki Haveli nearby has a distinctive roof shaped like a spreading peacock.
Keep the evening for the bazaar near the fort entrance.
Day 8: Jaisalmer Sightseeing and Sam Sand Dunes
After breakfast, drive 18 km to Kuldhara village. The entire Paliwal community left overnight in 1825 and never returned.
The houses and temple are intact and entry is Rs 50. In the evening, head to Sam Sand Dunes, 42 km from Jaisalmer, for a camel safari from 4 PM followed by folk music and dal baati churma at the desert camp.
An overnight desert camp stay is available from Rs 3,500 per person and must be booked in advance.
Day 9: Jaisalmer to Bikaner
After breakfast, the drive to Bikaner takes five and a half hours via Pokhran. After check-in, visit Junagarh Fort, which has never been captured in 430 years despite sitting on flat ground.
Note that the ticket counter closes at 4:30 PM, so arrival time matters. Cameras are charged separately at the entrance.
After the fort, the old city market around Kote Gate is the place for Bikaneri bhujia and camel leather goods.
Day 10: Bikaner to Udaipur
After an early breakfast, leave Bikaner no later than 7 AM. The drive is 490 km and takes around nine hours. A short stop at the Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara, 48 km before Udaipur, is easy to fit on the way.
Arrive Udaipur by late afternoon and take the Lake Pichola boat ride before dark. After a long day of driving, we recommend choosing a 4-star or heritage hotel tonight. The difference in comfort is noticeable.
Day 11: Udaipur and Departure
After breakfast, visit City Palace, built over 400 years under 22 successive Mewar rulers.
The Crystal Gallery inside holds crystal furniture ordered from Birmingham in 1877 that sat in storage for 117 years before opening as a museum. Entry is Rs 500 per person. Saheliyon Ki Bari, ten minutes away, is worth 30 minutes before you leave.
We drop you at Udaipur airport, Udaipur railway station or anywhere in the city. If you prefer to return to Delhi by road, your driver takes you back.
Are you already in Jaipur or flying in directly? Our 11 Day Rajasthan tour from Jaipur starts and ends in Jaipur, skips the Delhi route and adds Mount Abu and Chittorgarh instead.
